The paper “Adaptive HTAP through Elastic Resource Scheduling”, by Aunn Raza, Periklis Chrysogelos, Angelos Christos Anadiotis and Anastasia Ailamaki, has been accepted in SIGMOD 2020.

In this paper, we approach HTAP as a scheduling problem, addressed at runtime through elastic resource management. We devise a scheduling algorithm, implemented by an in-memory system which is non-intrusive to the current state-of-art OLTP and OLAP engines. We demonstrate that adaptive schedules increase the performance of OLAP query execution while maintaining a small and controlled drop in OLTP throughput.
